Michelin -
eating out in pubs - 2007
The Michelin guide for "eating
out in pubs" their "Good food in informal
surroundings" 2007 guide has The Sugar Loaf
Inn as a new entry!

The Guide reads:
"The nearby railway station
of Chalfont and Latimer once disgorged thirsty
commuters to the Sugar Loaf Hotel, a classic 30's
hostelry. Rundown at the turn of the millennium,
it's now evolved into a vibrant establishment
in a very attractive part of the world; the Chilterns
form a leafy backdrop and the popular Chess Valley
isn't far away. Despite the extensive refit, the
interior is surprisingly characterful: the original
oak-panelled walls have been given prominence;
while wood floors, moody lighting and blinds help
create a distinctive gastro feel. There's a good
mix of contemporary and original furniture, typified
by polished tables and rustic back chairs.
Cooking is fresh and unfussy with a modern British
edge: the menu is quite concise, but all the better
for it, with shanks of local lamb, risotto and
heat-warming puds getting the diners vote. Keen,
attentive and well meaning service."
